Singapore Low Cost Airlines
One of Southeast Asia's low cost giants, JetStar Asia operates numerous low cost routes from its hub at Singapore's Changi airport to destinations all over southeast asia.
And even as far northwest as Bangalore and Kolkata in India.
Note that JetStar Asia is the only Asian budget carrier at present connecting from Singapore direct to Hong Kong.
It's also the only Singaporean low cost airline flying to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia, Yangon in Myanmar and Taipei in Taiwan.
The main competitor airline to JetStar Asia, Singapore's Tiger Airways flies to one or two of the same desintations including Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand.
But note that in its bid to become a Ryanair-style lowest cost airline, Tiger Airways often prefers to fly to secondary airports - to Macau, for instance just across the water from Hong Kong, and to Clark Field, serving Manila, rather than to the Philippine capital's main airport.
Though Valueair was the first Asian low fare airline to fly to Australia, connecting Singapore to Perth, Tiger Airways is currently the only southeast asian low cost airline flying to Australia - now flying from Singapore to Darwin.
The low fare sister airline of JetStar Asia is only operating three routes to Indonesia at present. While ValueAir's fares are not in the same league as those of TigerAirways or its sister carrier, it is the only low fare airline at present connecting Singapore to Denpasar on Bali.
For cheaper flights between Singapore and Jakarta see the Indonesian low cost airline Adam Air.
